Respiratory Aid

Respiratory Aid

You’re looking at 3 tonnes of humanitarian aid that traveled 1,229 km to reach children with rare diseases facing severe respiratory challenges.

This week, a major shipment within the framework of our Medical Support Program is already on its way to our partner hospitals in Ukraine —St. Nicholas Hospital and Lviv Clinical Center of Children’s Healthcare — filled with essential medical equipment that helps fragile kids breathe, eat, and receive proper daily care.

Inside the truck are:

✔️cough assist devices

✔️ suction machines

✔️ pulse oximeters

✔️ patient monitors

✔️ tracheostomy care supplies

✔️ breathing / feeding systems

✔️ & other vital accessories for respiratory support

This effort became possible thanks to the generosity and commitment of Jo Börgel and his family together with BÖRGEL GmbH, who not only provided the equipment but also carefully prepared the shipment and covered the transportation costs.

We are also deeply grateful to Carsten Börgel and Raffael Brust for volunteering as drivers, co-piloted by the son of Tetiana Gudyma, our Head of Programs and the driving force behind the scenes. Despite mid-journey hydraulic hose failure and thanks to the express repair by Baumechanisierung Dresden, they were able to deliver the cargo safely to Poland.

Heartfelt thanks go to our trusted partner organization Trinity Ukraine and Kateryna Kovaleva, who received the cargo at their warehouse in Warsaw and they took responsibility for its safe transportation across the border into Ukraine.

And finally, enormous gratitude to Unity Ukraine Foundation, Anna and Sergii Bilous, who will ensure that this equipment reaches hospitals and families who need it most.

We’ve got one shared mission — helping children breathe easier. And this is a powerful reminder that through strong international partnerships and trust, we are able to move mountains — and turn thousands of miles into a bridge of care for rare children.

More to come!
