Anna's surgery
BfS continues supporting Anna Vovkodav with Rett Syndrome. Anna was one of the first patients of our Unbiased Inheritable Disease Program, and we couldn’t stay aside when she needed urgent help. This time we covered another surgery and a course of post-surgery rehabilitation for Anna.
Lately, the condition of Anna’s right hand was worsening. She simply couldn’t unbend it, despite the fact the family has been putting a lot of efforts in developing all muscles over the years. Similarly, Anna could only stand with her knees bent.
Eventually, Dr. Ershov performed a surgical lengthening of the biceps to alleviate the condition of the hand, as well as tendon incisions in order to release the tension in legs and straighten them for a better standing posture.
Now, Anna is entering the rehabilitation stage and we all hope for the best results.
We thank everyone how supports our kids, their urgent and rare needs are the driving force for our community and we’re happy our help comes on time.
