Bohdana Kivliuk

Bohdana Kivliuk is living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, and for her family this diagnosis means round-the-clock care and managing risks caused by weakening muscles:

— frequent suctioning to clear airways, 

— using supportive seating to avoid complications, 

— staying alert to even the slightest changes in breathing patterns

This means living in constant vigilance, day and night.

Together with our partners Warmed Heart / We Care Foundation @warmed_heart_wecare, we were able to provide Bohdana with a vital EKG and respiratory monitoring device. This life-saving equipment was supplied by Börgel Gmbh @boergel_gmbh, with logistics support from For Future Women Fiundation @forfuture.women

For children with SMA, where even small respiratory complications can become life-threatening, this device is basically an early-warning system that protects Bohdanna’s health and gives her family peace of mind. 

The monitor continuously tracks Bohdana’s heart rate and breathing, immediately alerting caregivers to dangerous changes. For example, if her oxygen levels suddenly drop during sleep, the alarm notifies her parents instantly, allowing them to act right away instead of discovering the danger too late.

Thanks to teamwork and your support, Bohdana can now be safely monitored at home — giving her family the confidence and strength to keep going.
