Milana receives a supply

Thanks to BfS and all of you, Milana Liaskivs’ka has received a 6-month supply of vital medications, securing her access to the treatments she needs to maintain her health and quality of life.

Milana is living with cystic fibrosis, a challenging and life-threatening genetic condition that primarily affects lungs and digestive system. It causes the body to produce thick, sticky mucus that can clog airways, leading to severe respiratory and digestive issues. For children like Milana, everyday life involves constant medical care, therapies, and a strict regimen of medications to manage the disease and prevent complications.

In particular, kids with cystic fibrosis require bronchodilators to open the airways, mucolytics to thin the mucus, and pancreatic enzyme supplements to aid digestion. Antibiotics are also commonly needed to treat and prevent lung infections, which are a frequent and serious complication. Without consistent access to these medications, kids with cystic fibrosis face increased risks of lung damage, malnutrition, and a diminished life expectancy.

The BfS Foundation’s Medical Support Program plays a crucial role in the lives of children like Milana across Ukraine. By providing essential medications and medical supplies, the Program helps families manage the complex and demanding care that rare diseases require. In a country where access to such specialized care is now limited, this support is not just a lifeline—it offers hope and a chance for these children to live fuller, healthier lives.

Our commitment to ensuring that children with rare chronic conditions receive the care they need highlights the profound impact of collective compassion and action in transforming lives. Join us in our mission!
