Phosphate Diabetes
Ksieniia Karimova’s journey continues thanks to your kind support!
Recently, Ksieniia visited Hadassah Medical Center in Israel for the second part of her annual treatment for hypophosphatemic rickets #phosphatediabetes. The full year of treatment costs $34,219, and thanks to your generosity, @birdsforsofia was able to cover this essential care for the second year in a row.
During the check-up, doctors carefully reviewed Ksieniia’s current condition and found:
– low phosphorus and ferritin levels
– increased liver size and cholesterol
– worsening of spinal and pelvic deformities
These changes are partly due to her growth during puberty and partly the unavoidable stress her body experiences from high doses of life-saving medication that cannot be interrupted.
Following the examinations, Ksieniia’s doctors adjusted her ongoing medications and prescribed new ones to improve her overall condition. All necessary treatments for the next six months were secured by our Unbiased Inheritable Disease Program, supporting children with ultra-rare conditions.
Thank you for standing with Ksieniia and all the brave kids we support!
