The Sundt Foundation Grant
Good news, dear friends!
The Sundt Foundation has approved the $8,000 grant request for Birds for Sofia from the Sacramento giving area which applies to all of our US Resettlement patients in UC Davis, UCSF, and Stanford.
The Sundt Foundation was created by the Sundt Construction Company in 1999, as a way to give back to the communities where company’s employees and clients live and work. Since then, it awarded millions of dollars in grants to nonprofit organizations, like ours, that focus on improving lives. Grant money comes from individual employee contributions, which are matched dollar-for-dollar by Sundt Construction with a purpose to build environments where communities prosper.
In this regard, our USA Resettlement Program is a perfect candidate. Aimed at the Ukrainian refugee families with kids with rare diseases in the USA, who are the confirmed «Uniting for Ukraine» parolees, it has welcomed 5 families with SMA Type 1/2 kids throughout 2023. BfS volunteers assist refugee families in navigating the US healthcare system, housing, and public services available for Ukrainians. As a result, 4 kids have already received their life-saving Zolgensma infusion and one more kid is in the process of receiving treatment.
We thank the Sundt Foundation, its Executive Director Emily Dwosh, the Board of Directors and all the Sundt Construction employees for joining us in our mission of saving rare kids in the most vulnerable situation from the darkest places on earth. Together we can do more!
