Ksieniia Karimova: update
After air connection with Israel had been restored, Ksieniia Karimova was finally able to get to the long-awaited annual examination at the Hadassah Clinic.
Professor of Endocrinology David Gilis, and leading nephrologist Ari Simhes, M.D., examined Ksieniia and noted the positive dynamics of the treatment for phosphatediabetes. One of the hormones that was blocking sexual development is now canceled. The work of the kidneys got improved, the amount of oxalates and the amount of protein got decreased. In addition, the doctors didn’t find new signs of bone deformations, which is also very good.
The situation with Ksieniia’s growth is a bit more difficult. She has gained only 3.5 cm in 9 months. There’s still hope however that a new growth leap is awaiting for the young athlete this summer.
Based on all the examinations, the doses of drugs and injections are adjusted and some new prescriptions are made. Thanks to all of YOU, the required medications have already been purchased!
Overall, the family used $2,700 remaining in the clinic from the last year’s fundraiser along with the medication coverage from BfS this year at a total cost of $14,858.
We believe that the new treatment course will help Ksieniia reach new heights. Thank you everyone who supports Ksieniia’s fundraiser as well as her sport career, this means the world to her!
